The NAPSA Academy was held on Sunday, October 14th from 8:00AM-3:00PM. This one-day pre-conference workshop for new and veteran student service administrators featured speakers on legal issues involving student services, effective student services programs and best practices in the various areas incorporated under student services supervision.
The Conference began on Sunday evening with a keynote speaker. The remainder of the conference presented a program of general sessions and breakout sessions in which speakers from across the country spotlighted outstanding programs, innovative approaches and key issues facing today's public schools.
In addition to the outstanding programs, the three-day conference offered an abundance of Texas hospitality. The Menger Hotel is located in downtown San Antonio, across from the Alamo and on the edge of the famous San Antonio Riverwalk. After the day's meetings, participants enjoyed exploring this unique city of Texas and Mexican culture. On Monday evening, in lieu of the traditional banquet, a fun-filled evening of barbecue and boot-scootin' was hosted by a native son of Texas. Live entertainment and dance instructors were on hand to make the evening a true Lone Star experience.
