Message from the Executive Director
by Wayne D. Fausnaught, Executive Director
I would like to welcome you to the National Association of Pupil Services website. On March 1, 2007, I officially assumed the responsibilities of Executive Director. As a member of the interview committee seven years ago that hired my predecessor, Lee Johnson, I never envisioned becoming his successor. As member of NAPSA's Executive Board from 1997 thru 2002 and as president in 2001, I had the privilege of getting to know Lee and appreciated his efficiency as NAPSA's Executive Director. I want to take this opportunity to thank him for his encouragement, shared knowledge and advice. He helped make a smooth transition of NAPSA's office from Pittsford, NY to its new home in Williamsport, PA.
I am genuinely excited about working with the members of the Executive Board in fulfilling its mission "to advocate success for all students by providing leadership, support and professional development to school administrators responsible for pupil services programs within the context of educational settings". During my thirty-two years as a member of NAPSA, I have seen a myriad of challenges and a tremendous increase in responsibilities for pupil services directors. It is a new and exciting time.
The members of the Executive Board have pledged to utilize up-to-date technology in offering NAPSA's membership the support they need in meeting the vision "to provide excellent programs and services essential for student success". We will be providing members with monthly e-mail information focusing on best practices, important legislation and current happenings in NAPSA, along with the revised "NAPSA NEWS". I am committed to work collaboratively with you to meet new challenges and insure your needs are met. I encourage you to communicate with us by sharing your needs and your successes. You are invited to become active in the association and together we can meet the new challenges and make a difference.
