What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?

There are so many facets to being a leader in the arena of pupil services it is difficult to say what is the most rewarding. In thinking about the question, I keep coming back to one simple thing – helping and watching students grow, learn, and reach their full potential. Whether that is working collaboratively with colleagues on initiatives that support the whole child (MTSS, special education, mental health, attendance, academic achievement, graduation, etc.) or working with a family to problem solve issues together, I feel grateful and honored that I get to do this job. Having the ability to build and work with the best Student Services team, with many members with different backgrounds and expertise, allows us to work collaboratively from different perspectives to effectively problem solve and come up with creative solutions to address our students’ and families’ needs.

What is the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member?

Being a NAPSA member provides a network of people experiencing similar experiences as we all try to navigate our new world. Having the opportunity to communicate with other administrators from similar as well as different types of districts is invaluable. Given all that we have faced in the last several years and the impact on the educational landscape  now and in the future, it is nice to know we are not alone in the challenges we each face and that NAPSA is available to support the work we do everyday. NAPSA is a resource that provides professional development, resources, and support in the work we lead as pupil service administrators.
