Deidre Parsons

Employer: I recently retired from Barberton City School District. I was blessed to work for that district for 14+ years.

Title: I started as the principal of Memorial Elementary. After a couple of years, I was moved to the Director of Student Services.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?

I loved being the director of student services. I think the best part was helping the students and families solve any issues they had, whether it was with their teacher, school, or their family. I really liked that I could be of help to them to get back on track and have a great experience with the district.

What is the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member?

I think the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member is the opportunity we have to network with peers from around the country. Even though the laws and rules vary from state to state, we all have the same problems. It is awesome that we can email or call someone and get great advice. In addition, the conference is another opportunity to network in person. Another equally great benefit is having the opportunity to serve on the NAPSA Executive Board. I get to work with great people who are experts in their fields.
