Stress over Anti-LGBTQ+ laws, policies and debates have caused nine out of 10 LGBTQ+ youth stress or anxiety, according to 2025 data released by The Trevor Project in its annual report tracking LGBTQ+ mental health.
In addition, over a third of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered attempting suicide, while 1 in 10 actually attempted it. Meanwhile, 44% of LGBTQ+ youth who wanted mental healthcare were not able to access it. Over half (59%) of LGBTQ+ young people ages 13-17 experienced bullying in the past year, and those who did reported significantly higher rates of attempting suicide than their peers.
